Painted by Gilbert Stuart in 1796 this piece was the foundation for Washington's portrait on the dollar bill, thus making his painting infinitely more interesting (popular). Upon seeing the real,"worth," of his work, he chose to not finish it, but to instead make as many copies of it as possible.
